Breastfeeding Welcome?

Hello all!

Tomorrow we will be having one of our monthly discussion/chat sessions and we’re going to be talking about ways to make things easier when out and about with little ones.  We would love to hear your thoughts on this topic so come along to group tomorrow.  untitled

One of the things we’re hoping you would like to get involved in is getting your favourite cafe/ hairdresser/ library etc to sign up to the Welsh Assembly Government‘s Breastfeeding Welcome Scheme.

As breastfeeding mums we have the legal right to feed our babies wherever they may need food without being asked to move or be disturbed.  However, we know in practice that not everyone feels comfortable feeding in public, especially in the early weeks, and that’s where the Breastfeeding Welcome Scheme comes in.

At the moment Caerphilly is the area with the least number of premises signed up to the scheme.  Here’s some info from Health Challenge Caerphilly‘s website:

Breast feeding Welcome scheme

This is a Welsh Assembly Government initiative and all premises that welcome mothers to breastfeed at their establishment whether it be a café, leisure centre or library can sign up to the scheme. If you would like to nominate a café, library etc please contact Andrea Bevan tel. 02920 887046 or Jane Moss tel. 01495 241215 to discuss how to proceed.

The following premises have signed up across the borough

  • Blackwood Community College
  • Blackwood Comprehensive Cefn Road,Cefn Forest, NP12 12R
  • Caerphilly Leisure Centre Virginia Park Caerphilly Park. CF83 3SW
  • Cyber Café S t Ivor’s Road, Pontllanfraith. NP12 2JH.
  • Funtastic  Forward House, Western Industrial Estate, Caerphilly CF83 1BQ
  • Kidz Fun Unit 11, Caerphilly Road Industrial Estate, Caerphilly Road, Ystrad Mynach. CF82 7EP
  • The New Continental Café 49 Hanbury Road, Bargoed. CF81 8QT

What we would love to do is see this list grow and grow and grow.  Fancy being part of something big and making a real difference for other breastfeeding mums in our community?

Come along tomorrow and find out more 🙂

Have your say.
